The University Attendance Management System is a key project in the Student Lifecycle Change Programme, which is introducing a new way for students to register their attendance at lessons. AMS is the attendance management system for all campus-based taught students and was introduced at the start of the new academic year for 2016/17. AMS is an in-house developed system, which replaced existing attendance registration systems. It uses tried and tested hardware already being used in many Universities. These are Salto Card Readers and many have already been installed in lecture theatres and teaching rooms. The system works by pulling information from the University's timetabling system CMIS. When students enter a teaching space with card readers installed, they simply touch their University ID card to the reader to register their attendance.
