The National Apprentice Promotion Scheme was launched in August 2016 to encourage skill development and entrepreneurship in India. NAPS was introduced to incentivise employers by contributing 25% of the stipend to be paid to the apprentices. Additionally, training cost up to INR 7500 for 500 hours for three months per apprentice has also been promised to be given to the trainees. It also supports Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), a recognised sector council, which is working successfully in upgrading the aspiring youth by providing diverse courses and jobs. NAPS convinces various eminent automotive companies to provide good placement opportunities to the aspirants.
