Item description

In computer networking, unicast transmission is the sending of messages to a single network destination identified by a unique address. The term unicast is contrasted with the term broadcast which means transmitting the same data to all possible destinations. Another multi-destination distribution method, multicasting, sends data only to interested destinations by using special address assignments. If an IP Unicast packet passes through a switch that does not know the location of the associated MAC Address, the packet will be broadcast to all ports on the switch. This failure of Unicast to ‘cast to a single device’ is called a Unicast flood.

Unicast messaging is used for all network processes in which a private or unique resource is requested.XBee modems are one of the easiest ways to create a wireless point-to-point or mesh network. They are configured with AT commands, come in multiple favours to create a wireless serial link out of the box. Xbee is used for short range, long range communication based on the type of module used, An Adapter board is used along with module. It has an on-board 3.3v regulator to cleanly power the Xbee up to 250mah. Two LEDs indicate, one for activity (RSSI), the other for power (Associate), here 10-pin 2mm sockets included to protect the modem and allow easy swapping, upgrading or recycling.

It is specifically created for use with an FTDI cable to connect to a computer via USB. This means that you can use, configure or upgrade the adapter painlessly simply by plugging in a cable. The DTR, RTS, RESET and RX pins pass through a level converter chip that brings the levels to 3.3V. You can use pretty much anywhere between 2.7 to 5.5V data to communicate with the XBee. If high power modules are used, put the jumper.
