Pomegranate is a deciduous shrub that bears fruit in the southern hemisphere from the month of March to May. It is used as a medium of juice, shakes, custards, fruit creams and ice creams. It is known to have been originated in Iran and since then has been cultivated all over the medditeranien regions. It was introduced in America in the late sixteenth century by some Spanish settlers. The tree of the pomegranate is a small shrub with spiny branches .The flower is of deep red colour with three to six petals .At some places it is grown without the flower. It is a seedy fruit with juicy berries of very small sizes with seeds in them .The seeds are enclosed in a covering hat have to be peeled and deseeded to obtain the seed. The seeds can de sour or sweet and it is used as a substitute for the red colour of the berries and added in cocktails for added flavour and taste. Dried seeds are used in the culinary dishes for adding taste and flavour and a crunchy flavour to the cuisine. It also has medicinal properties and has a cure of problems related with diorrea or other digestive complications. The juice is used to cure throat and the flower nectar is used to treat nose bleeds and gum bleeds and toning of the skin. Pomegranate cures a lot of chronic diseases and is also considered poor mans apple .it is difficult to eat considering that there are a lot of seed in the fruit and they have to be deseeded to eat them. It is also easy to cultivate in your personnel garden as it gives fruit in the shrub form and the branch of the tree is used to write shlokas or mantras on bay leaf. A single pomegranate gives enough nutrients required for the day it is sacred in the city of Greece to top all the traditional dishes with pomegranate .The ceramic knob is in the shape of bud which is the main part of the flower and which is useful in reproduction.
