According to a report by the United Nations and the Ministry of Statistics, almost one-third (31.4%) of children below five years of age in India will be stunted by 2022 due to malnutrition. To tackle this issue, Tare Zameen Foundation (TZF) has proposed an intervention to eliminate hunger and malnutrition in India by incentivising food for children and elderly citizens.
The proposed intervention includes a mid-day meal campaign that provides filling and nutritious meals to underprivileged children almost every day, and a scheme to provide monthly ration kits to elderly citizens. The foundation aims to feed every hungry tummy with every cent received, thus helping them live a good life.
To achieve this, TZF collaborates with major donors and has financial and logistic capacity to supply mid-day meals at the requisite scale. The foundation strives to ensure that children not only have access to unlimited food but also receive prescribed quantities of nutrition.
