US citizens can now | apply for a 5-year e-Tourist Visa
US citizens can now conveniently apply for a 5-year e-Tourist Visa for India online, eliminating the need to visit an embassy or consulate. This extended visa allows multiple entries into India, each lasting up to 90 days. The India e-Visa program facilitates swift and hassle-free entry into the country.

The Indian Tourist Visa policy underwent significant changes in September 2019 to support the Prime Minister's goal of doubling US tourist arrivals. As a result, US tourists can now apply for a long-term 5-year Indian Tourist Visa, making it ideal for those planning multiple visits within 5 years.

Three categories of Tourist Visas are available: a 30-day visa, a 1-year (365 days) visa, and a 5-year (60 months) visa, all offering multiple entries. Choosing the visa that aligns with your travel needs is essential, as these visas are non-extendable and non-convertible.

For the 5-year e-tourist Visa, it's essential to note that each visit cannot exceed 180 days. To ensure a smooth process, it's advisable to apply at least 7 days before your intended flight.

Activities permitted on the 5-year Tourist e-visa include recreational travel, visiting friends or family in India, and participating in short-term yoga programs.

To obtain the 5-year Tourist e-Visa, you must meet specific requirements, including a passport with a minimum validity of six months from your first arrival in India, a valid email address to receive visa updates, and a valid payment method (credit/debit cards, PayPal, or UnionPay).

India offers a wide variety of attractions for US citizens, including exploring the Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur), enjoying the vibrant party scene in Goa, experiencing spirituality along the Ganges, discovering hill stations in Jammu and Kashmir, unwinding on Kerala's pristine beaches, marvelling at historic architecture, and exploring wildlife in national parks like Ranthambore, Corbett, Gir Forest, and Kaziranga.
