The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) is a law that aims to prevent and punish the crime of money laundering. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is the agency that investigates and prosecutes the cases under the PMLA. However, the ED cannot act under the PMLA without the permission of the competent authority, as per a recent judgment of the Delhi High Court.][1]
