Australia and England every two years. It started after the 1882 victory of Australia over England at Ovals, which was the first Test win on England soil. The name "Ashes" came from a Sports article that was published in the British Newspaper, the "sporting times" that "English cricket had died, and "the body will be cremated and the Ashes taken to Australia."

After this iconic incident in the cricketing world, the term "Ashes' became associated with the  1882–83 series played in Australia. In response, England captain Ivo Bligh promised to "regain those ashes" from the Australian team. Thus, the tour was referred to in the English media as the "quest to regain the Ashes."

The Ashes rivalry so far
There have been 340 matches played so far in the series in which Australia has won 140, England 108, while 92 have resulted in a draw.

If we go through the calendar, when the whole Ashes series of 5 matches has been whitewashed by both countries is 3 times by Kangaroos in 1920-21, 2006-07, and 2013 -14. From 1920-21, 2006-07, and 2013-14 When Australia whitewashed England in the Ashes, each time they made global Cricket news around the cricketing world.

However, the Englishman's largest winning margin in the series was in 1978-79, when they won the series by a 5-1 margin. England's largest unbeaten winning margin of 3–0 in an Ashes series was achieved in 1886, 1977, and 2013. On both of these occasions, England made a sensational sports news headline around the world by defeating the Kangaroos by these big margins for the first time.

No doubt! Fans always see an epic battle between the two countries, and when the players reach the field, the gentleman's game turns into a rivalry, where each player puts in his best effort for his team to win for the country. Some players even avoid playing in 20-20 Cricket for the Ashes.

One of the players who made a sports headline for his country is Mitchell Starc, who has cancelled the IPL's team Bengaluru contract so that he can serve his country in the Ashes that would start after the two months of IPL 2023.
