BSL-3 laboratories are used to research infectious diseases or toxic compounds that can spread easily and affect potentially fatal infections. All experiments are carried out in a biosafety cabinet by the researchers. BSL-3 laboratories should ideally be located in a separate building, or they should be kept separate from general traffic flow and accessed via an anteroom/air lock area inside a building. On a BSL-3 lab, all stuff is done in bio-contained environments with appropriate engineering controls.
